AMC Narragansett Chapter Technical Climbing Committee
Trad leader Approval Criteria

Only Narragansett Chapter- approved trad leaders will be allowed to lead on AMC Narragansett Chapter posted trips. There are three methods available for a climber to be added to the approved leader list.

1. Demonstrate proficiency to 1-2 Narragansett Chapter- appointed trad leaders in the following :
a. Set protection safely
b. Anchor building (gear and bolted)
c. Multi-pitch experience
d. Rope management
e. Thorough knowledge of systems (self rescue, hauling, rappelling, etc.)
f. Managing seconds-interpersonal skills
g. Rappelling options with seconds

OR
2. Approval from the instructor through Narragansett Chapter Leader Development Workshop.

OR
3. Reference from another AMC Chapter Chairperson that the leader is on their chapter’s approved leader list.

Those wishing to be added to the AMC Narragansett Chapter Approved Trad Leader list should contact Technical Climbing Co-chairs Ken Hamel bikeskiboy@hotmail.com and Jennifer Carlino at plantchic5@gmail.com. Your request will be sent to the Narragansett approvers and someone will contact you. The Narragansett Chapter approver should send an email about the new leader’s skills and abilities to the Technical Climbing Co-chairs Ken Hamel and Jennifer Carlino to be added to the approved leader list.
