Climbing
Trip Information
For multi-pitch trad trips the leader will determine
how many
climbers, i.e. seconds, can participate based on the number of climb
leaders who are going on the trip. Also, the leader will determine if
the
individual climber is capable of climbing at the level required for the
particular area. That year’s climbing class participants always get
priority on the June Gunks trip. Registration will close after
one week or until we have no more than a 1-2 leader/seconds ratio
registered. I will notify you if you made the cut.
Anyone who signs-up beyond the cut-off will be put on a wait list and I
will notify you within two days of the trip if we get any more leaders
or any seconds drop out. If anyone can not make it
please contact me immediately and not the day of the trip unless it is
a dire emergency. Anyone who doesn’t make the cut and wants
to come to top-rope, hike, etc. is welcome.
If a trip has shared lodging and you wish to stay with the group there
will be a non-refundable $20 deposit paid to the trip leader that will
go towards your share of the lodging.
All ice and trad rock climbing trip participants are required to have a helmet, belay/rappel device (capable of double rope use for rappeling), 3 locking carabineers, 2 prusik slings, 2 slings (2 foot long, 1 sling 4 foot long), a cleaning tool, harness, climbing shoes, headlight, extra clothing and rain gear, food, water and a pack. These requirments will vary for a sport climbing trip or local meetup. You must also have a 60 meter, or longer, climbing rope unless you coordinate with your leader beforehand.
All trip participants will be
required to sign this Acknowledgement
of Risks, Assumption of Risks, and
Release Agreement for AMC Volunteer-Led Activities. Please print it, read and
sign it, and turn
it in to the trip leader.
